Welcome to DeWyse Construction, Inc. - About Us
DeWyse Construction, Inc.
Getting to Know Our Company
by Debbie DeWyse

DeWyse Construction began in the spring of 1997, as John or Zeak as he is affectionately called, made the plunge from the Bay City area and relocated to the beautiful Upper Peninsula. He will give you many reasons why he made this move, but I like to believe its because he couldn't live without me!
From Father to Son - A Family Tradition
"Quality, Dependability and Fun"

Zeak has always been in the construction business as his father has been a General Contractor (John DeWyse and Son Builders) for many years in the Bay City Area, and Zeak has served in some capacity in the company until his relocation to the beautiful Upper Peninsula.
Zeak believes and delivers in his slogan, “Quality, Dependability and Fun.”
"Zeak, you are top of the line when it comes to being a contractor and builder. You handled it all for us from the basement to the roof and that's what we needed! I will recommend your family and your company to anyone who calls. You can use us for a reference whenever you need."

Your friend always,

The DeWyse Family

Zeak and his wife Debbie have 5 children.
Derick, 20 and Desirae, 18 and are both away at college. Derick is now in his third year of college. Desirae is in her second year of college majoring in elementary education and minoring in child development. David has just begun his first year of college after completing a very successful basketball career his senior year in high school, being named the Eastern Upper Peninsula Basketball Player of the Year and breaking school records.
Devon is a Junior at Engadine High School and hopes to break the records of his brother David. Drake is a first grader full of life and energy. He keeps us all young! All are avid hunters with a love for the outdoors.
Smokey Rutledge

Smokey Rutledge is our #1 man and we are pleased he is a part of our company. He presently is our working foreman and can be counted on to “get the job done.” He has a wonderful wife by the name of Dani who owns a silk screening business and two beautiful daughters, Shauni and Casey who tear up the basketball and volleyball courts for Engadine Schools. Smoky has been with our company for 6 years and is a wonderful asset to our construction crew.
Monte Simmons

Monte Simmons has recently moved to the area, and we’re thankful! He began working on the construction crew in the summer of 2005. He lives in Engadine with his wife, Lisa and daughter Oyuna Gabbard. Monte’s passion includes sled dog racing and was one of his reasons for moving to the Upper Peninsula. Whatever the reason we’re glad!

25th Annual Black Bear Run!
Sponsored by DeWyse Construction of Engadine Michigan!
The Black Bear Run is a 6K or 12K run or walk
held every year on the 4th of July.
The Black Bear Run was the brainchild of the Engadine sports Boosters.
The course begins in Engadine and ends in Naubinway.

This year was the 25th anniversary of the run with 219 participants with the youngest being 5, Drake DeWyse shown to the left with his father Zeak.

Drake, who ran/walked his first 6 K at the age of 5 received a trophy (he calls it his Piston Cup) for youngest participant.

Shown to the right is Casey Rutlegdge, a freshman at Engadine High School - daughter of Smoky Rutledge, foreman of DeWyse Construction.

This was DeWyse Construction’s 2nd year of sponsoring the Black Bear Run and we are looking forward to continuing our sponsorship
for many years to come!
